Shetland summer
The lace shawl „Shetland Summer“ is a play on elements of the lace knitting tradition from the Shetland Islands. It is knitted from a fine lace yarn (50% lambswool, 50% Shetland wool) from Jamieson’s of Shetland. The use of relatively large knitting needles creates a particularly airy structure, allowing the shawl to be worn gathered around the neck or open to reveal its true splendor.
The symmetrical triangular shawl is made in two steps. First, you knit an outer border. Then you cast on stitches on the right side of the border and work the main triangular pattern while steadily decreasing stitches.
„Shetland Summer“ is also part of my E-Book „Midsummer“ along with 8 other beautiful designs.
